Evaluation Methodology
How we evaluate and score side hustles on SideHustleHelp.com.
Our Principles
We use a standardized, data-backed approach to review side hustles. We collect real-world market pricing data, interview active solopreneurs, and evaluate current client demand trends before writing a blueprint.
Startup Cost
How much capital is required to purchase software licenses, gear, inventory, or templates to launch. We favor service-based projects requiring near-zero (₹0 - ₹1,000) upfront costs.
Difficulty Level
Evaluated as Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Beginner hustles can be learned in under 2 weeks, while Advanced hustles require specific technical capabilities like coding, specialized tools, or sales expertise.
Time Commitment
The minimum weekly hours required to set up and run the service. Most listings fit within a 5-15 hour window, designed for part-time builders and students.
Time to First Income
How quickly you can realistically expect to see your first invoice paid. Service-based freelancing generally converts in 2-4 weeks, while content-based models (YouTube/Blogging) can take 6-12 months of daily builds.
Income Potential & Scalability
The ceiling of earnings. We look at whether you can transition from a solopreneur time-for-money freelancing framework into a leveraged agency or product model.
Risk & Volatility
The likelihood of losing capital or hitting legal blockages. Product lines with high returns (like dropshipping or domains) carry higher marketing losses than low-risk freelancing.
The Scoring Formula
Our Side Hustle Finder Quiz runs an algorithm matching your budget, available hours, and skills against the attributes of each hustle in our database. We calculate a percentage score based on compatibility constraints (e.g. if you have ₹0 starting capital, we exclude high cost dropshipping options from top recommendations).
